Oh my gosh this year has flown by so quickly...and they have grown so rapidly!!
For their birthday Jonny and Haylie decided the perfect place to celebrate would be Disneyland AND of course it's Mickey Mouse's birthday, as well. Dear Mickey is the young age of 80.
Even at the age of one Saylor and Raimy knew they were at a very special place. They were laughing and taking in all the sights, as they were wheeled through in their double wide stroller.
They both loved Dumbo, and the motion of the carousel almost put Raim to sleep.
They thought Tune Town was the best and they posed for many pictures.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-58271390386643335832008-11-17T23:41:00.000-08:002008-12-13T14:01:53.869-08:00The Never Ending Blog!The Blog Will Go On!!

Hey did you ever see that annoying movie called: The Never Ending story?? Well, I have decided to make this: The Never Ending Blog. It wasn't just my idea, but because so many of you kind people have written, called and emailed, asking me to continue writing about my sometimes boring life...so the blog will continue for now.
I thank you for reading and taking an interest in my words.
Please feel free to leave comments...I love reading them!Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-54152969354026516782008-11-13T12:22:00.000-08:002008-12-14T00:24:45.722-08:00Another One Bites the DustAnother one bites the dust...

The tour is officially over. It ended Tuesday night, in Portland, Oregon. As everyone was leaving yesterday to return home, Drummer, Mitch Michell, was not in the group. Sadly his life ended with the tour, which he helped put together.
I didn't get to know Mitch while I was on tour, but I did talk to him a few times. He loved the babies and got excited every time they were around. Here's a picture I took of him backstage, last week.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKUTOxfchCL-hj66349M1-TcxLBSX-Q5is774VXvS_z9qpV5r6o98yz1TnCW734UZoODg2UEAR85GHtZuOZnmMz-vdayYhrAUmtRQqRoI0EQRUZpP5Py80o-Ya3J5dQtVObUQkBF5XZlI/s320/mitch+mitchell.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5268245923826362482" />

Mitch Mitchell of Hendrix Experience Dies

Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience of the 1960s and the group's last surviving member, was found dead in his hotel room early Wednesday. He was 61.
"He was a wonderful man, a brilliant musician and a true friend," said Janie Hendrix, chief executive of the Experience Hendrix Tour and Jimi Hendrix' stepsister. "His role in shaping the sound of the Jimi Hendrix Experience cannot be underestimated."
Bob Merlis, a spokesman for the tour, said Mitchell had stayed in Portland for a four-day vacation and planned to leave Wednesday.
"It was a devastating surprise," Merlis said. "Nobody drummed like he did."
He said he saw Mitchell perform two weeks ago in Los Angeles, and the drummer appeared to be healthy and upbeat.
Merlis said the tour was designed to bring together veteran musicians who had known Hendrix — like Mitchell — and younger artists, such as Grammy-nominated winner Jonny Lang, who have been influenced by him.
Blues-rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who is 31 and was part of the tour, said Mitchell was to the drums what Hendrix was to the guitar.
"Today many of us have lost a dear friend, and the world has lost a rock n' roll hero," he said.
Mitchell was a one-of-a-kind drummer whose "jazz-tinged" style was influenced by Max Roach and Elvin Jones, Merlis said. The work was a vital part of both the Jimi Hendrix Experience in the 1960s and the Experience Hendrix Tour that ended last week, he said.
"If Jimi Hendrix were still alive," Merlis said, "he would have acknowledged that."
During his career Mitchell played with the best in the business — not just Hendrix, but also Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Keith Richards, Jack Bruce, Jeff Beck, Muddy Waters and others.
Mitchell performed with Hendrix and Redding at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, the U.S. debut of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He also was member of a later version of the band that performed the closing set of the Woodstock Festival in August 1969 — where Hendrix played a psychedelic version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the band launched into "Purple Haze."
The Jimi Hendrix Experience was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1992. According to the Hall of Fame, Mitchell was born July 9, 1947, in Ealing, England.
Terry Stewart, chief executive of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, said Mitchell transformed his instrument from a "strictly percussive element to a lead instrument."
"His interplay with Jimi Hendrix's guitar on songs like 'Fire' is truly amazing," Stewart said Wednesday. "Mitch Mitchell had a massive influence on rock 'n' roll drumming and took it to new heights."
Hendrix, Redding and Mitchell held their first rehearsal in October 1966, according to the Hall of Fame's Web site.
In an interview last month with the Boston Herald, Mitchell said he met Hendrix "in this sleazy little club."
"We did some Chuck Berry and took it from there," Mitchell told the newspaper. "I suppose it worked."
Copyright 2008 The Associated Press. It has been fun, it has been hard, it has been tiring, but it has been priceless and I will never forget this wonderful time spent with my family. I have met new friends and heard some amazing music. I feel so blessed that I have children that would invite their Mom along, in a tour bus, for over a month.
I have learned that so many of the gorgeous old theaters across the country are called The Orpheum, The Paramount or The Palace. I don't think they are owned by the same companies, but that must have been a very popular name back in the 20's-40's, when a lot of these theaters were built.
I have mastered the art of getting into my high bunk, in a moving bus. This was quite a feat for me, but I feel I have better core muscles because of it. I have mastered the kitchen at a speed of about 70mph, and I can make some great mac and cheese.
I have found that most public restrooms outside of California and New York, do not have seat covers in the bathrooms. I have found the smaller the space you live in, the more you have to clean to keep things tidy.
I found I could sleep in a small buck filled with stacks of books, many articles of clothing, shoes, boots, makeup and various bags of things I purchased along the way...so why is it that I hardly have enough room in my queen sized bed at home??
I have found that all venues seem to have an enormous amount of Red Bull, in their dressing rooms.
I have found I can't make myself like Red Bull, no matter how hard I have tried. It's such a cool drink and I would love to say, Hey, I'll have a Red Bull...but then why would I want to get hooked on a $3.00 can of cool???
I have always heard, "be careful who you hang out with because you always turn out like those friends", but I have been hanging out with so many amazingly talented musicians, and none of their talent has rubbed off on me.
I'm going to miss exploring a new city or town each day. I'll miss the freedom of being away from home and work. But most of all, I am going to miss being with my precious Raimy and Saylor everyday... especially when they would wake me up from across the hall, every morning at about 7.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-33110887555637118142008-11-09T19:15:00.000-08:002008-12-29T10:21:13.270-08:00Seattle ReviewAhley and Jonathan joined us tonight. And another was played, this time
with inimitable style by influential bluesman Buddy Guy, with
overalls and a drumstick.

In celebration of rock's most influential guitarist, whose meteoric
career ended with his death in 1970, instruments were caressed,
coaxed and cajoled to maximum, this-one-goes-to-11 effect. It was a
star-studded night of electric-guitar heroics and, save a brief
appearance by Seattle's Kim Virant singing "Little Wing," a total
testosterone fest.

The three-hour blowout featured some of the best guitarists of the
past half-century, from Chicago blues legends Guy, 72, and Hubert
Sumlin, 76, to young phenoms Jonny Lang (he was truly phenomenal
here), Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Eric Gales. Playfully, lefty Gales,
who wielded his guitar upside down in the familiar manner, opened
with the behind-the-head maneuver and by repeating the classic
mishearing of the "Purple Haze" lyric, " 'Scuse me while I kiss this
guy."

The local representatives alone indicated the breadth of Hendrix's
influence. It comes as no surprise that Pearl Jam guitarist Mike
McCready is a fan, or that his trio Shadow '86 is a tribute. Here,
McCready, bassist Rick Friel and drummer Chris Friel brought the
raucous crowd to its feet (OK, it was cheating a bit) with a full-
band version of Hendrix's Woodstock-classic reworking of "The Star
Spangled Banner."

More intriguing was the effect on '80s-concept-metal rockers
Queensryche, with singer Geoff Tate declaring that hearing Jimi's
rendition of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" made him want to
rock. And while the contrast between Tate's slick vocals and
Hendrix's nonchalant-sounding ones was jarring, Scott Rockenfield
very impressively doubled up on Jimi Hendrix Experience veteran Mitch
Mitchell's drum parts.

Once one of rock's most explosive percussionists, the frail-looking
Mitchell was reduced to the role of nostalgic reminder. That wasn't
the case with bassist Billy Cox, the longtime Hendrix sideman who
shepherded Thursday's ever-changing lineup for a good portion of the
evening.

Cox took to the microphone for "Stone Free," playing off of Mato
Nanji of the Native American band Indigenous, and later sang on "Red
House" as Lang, Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, Robby Krieger of
The Doors and the still-vital Guy dueled behind him.

Mikel Toombs can be reached at mikeltoombs@gmail.com.

2nd Review from Seattle

Concert review | Tribute concert unites those who inspired and were
inspired by Jimi Hendrix
Concert review by Patrick MacDonald: The Experience Hendrix Tribute
Tour featured nearly two dozen musicians playing the music of Jimi
Hendrix — from Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Mike McCready to
Hendrix bandmates Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox — at a concert at the
Paramount on Nov. 6.

By Patrick MacDonald

Music & Nightlife RSS feed
Concert Review |

Jimi Hendrix continues to inspire, 40 years on.

Guitarists young and old waved their freak flags high Thursday night
at the Paramount, channeling their inner Hendrixes, while a big,
appreciative crowd danced and cheered and air-guitared the night away.

It was a kick hearing Jonny Lang tear through "Let Me Stand Next To
Your Fire," his face contorting along with the feedback and piercing
high notes; exhilarating to watch Kenny Wayne Shepherd march across
the stage like a man possessed while grinding out an extended "Voodoo
Child"; and inspiring, on the day after the election, to stand with
the audience for Mike McCready's moving, powerful rendition of "The
Star Spangled Banner," the Pearl Jam guitarist echoing Hendrix's
famous Woodstock version while adding some fireworks of his own.

The occasion was the next-to-last concert of the five-week, 19-stop
Experience Hendrix 2008 Tribute Tour, the third and longest in the
series, and bigger than the 2004 and 2007 editions.

The show also featured drummer Mitch Mitchell, of the Jimi Hendrix
Experience, looking frail but in good spirits, and another Hendrix
bandmate, bassist Billy Cox, from Band of Gypsies, who played bass
and sang the lead on "Red House."

Brad Whitford of Aerosmith showed his mighty blues chops on several
numbers. He traded fiery licks with Lang on "Spanish Castle Magic"
and "The Wind Cries Mary." Michael Wilton tore the place up with his
guitar solo on "All Along the Watchtower," with fellow Queensryche
member Geoff Tate handling the vocal.

Robby Krieger, legendary guitarist of the Doors, was featured on "Got
Me Floating" and played on most of the other songs. Mato Nanji of
Indigenous played guitar and sang the lead on "Hey Joe."

Blues greats Hubert Sumlin and Buddy Guy, who both inspired Hendrix,
played classic blues songs and joined in Hendrix jams with the other
musicians, about 20 in all.

The songs stayed faithful to Hendrix's recorded versions at first,
but all were expanded into long flights of improv and guitar
shootouts, to the delight of the crowd. Old-timers like me, who
remember seeing Hendrix back in the day (as I write this, a picture
of Hendrix and me taken 40 years ago is on the wall in front of me),
made up a sizable portion of the crowd. But there were a lot of young
fans, too. His spirit lives on.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-30667133236498919102008-11-04T16:12:00.001-08:002008-12-10T00:47:46.854-08:00Larry, He's the Man!Our Wonderful Driver, Larry!!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3HtMpjj0EfTqlgqixqEjh1yhZX2-ZJzYA9l6S1R-ppAKaTL24pbYsMT1-xqhkZ0rJwopfQzhF7iMdc-zFKWDm14DCu-yZ3UanM7iQuFnEFI5Fere5V9pRLmrlPFNt-GYatUq7PaFGyy8/s320/CIMG2692.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265006986117694834" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipvtX530qUUghz6R6JKOK5dwDsCKdOjP9jwV3v6JGh1fEiaY30s-r5fjMmVQg0H_WICpaz3JfK1YYp4vNVix1CIMVD9wucY5ietUjhZZXjYtBywx0K089Kiclpo1IjCr4k3hN6txvpvdM/s320/CIMG2694.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265006981155064658" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJOTqZ_SAdlvfntS32-BwitWNNfbUTOhnhsGho5PqbY1fiJEFiTSqt4H7aGit-GOSZE0zKnMNZ_L-IJBWExiN9gfroAaLCX5Ag5Gie6XmpcS_Cg0Hob7qZzkkrOcIi27hq7M29ekSlaUo/s320/CIMG2695.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265006978402266914" />
Larry, He's the Man!! ... That's what she says!

This entry is all about our wonderful driver, Larry. I have met Larry many times over the course of the last three years, but never had the pleasure of going on a road trip. Now, after being in the bus with Larry since the 1st of Oct., I have to say he is such a wonderful man and I feel so blessed and privileged that my family has him!

First of all you may not even think driving a bus is such a big deal, but it's an extremely hard job. The other thing is that you put yours and your family's lives in his hands, when he is at the wheel.
I can't imagine ever having a job like this and driving so far each night and maneuvering through so many tight spots. Many nights when I couldn't sleep I would go up into the front area and sit and talk to Larry as he flew down the long endless highways. The passenger seat was so comfortable and I really could have slept there all night. The chair is actually a huge recliner and you are suspended so high, that you are on the same level or higher that most of the semi trucks. You are also totally surrounded by glass, so the view is amazing.

The way it works is that we get to town in the middle of the night and pull into a hotel parking lot. Larry goes into the hotel and checks in for everyone. He then comes back to the bus and puts each of our individual keys on the table, ready when we get up. I was generally always awake and ready to run into the hotel as soon as the keys arrived. Larry would sleep a bit and then drive us to the venue and take a taxi back to the hotel, so he could sleep for the day. He would then take a taxi back to the venue around 10:30PM, to be there and ready when the show was over. After the show he would drive us all night long to the next city or state, and we would do this all over again.

Larry is a great driver!! I spent one evening just talking about his life on the tour bus and his story. He has a business partner and they own this bus and in the process of building another one. Buses are very expensive and cost more that many people's homes. The one that we have been using is valued at around $850,000.00. He is building a second one that is in the 1.5 million range. Ours has one tip-out in the living room and the new one has living room tip-outs, on both sides, and one in the back bedroom.

The beautiful Gibson bus once belonged to Larry and Jonny toured on it a long time, before Larry sold it to Gibson. It's funny to me that the buses can be remolded just like a house.

Larry has been a driver for 27 years and has toured with people and groups like, Journey, Rolling Stones, U2, Ron Stewart and Elton John. There were many more, but I can't remember all of them right now. Larry had some great stories, but I don't feel it would be appropriate to share them here on the blog! LOL

Just a few facts about the bus:
It gets a whooping 5.5 miles per gallon and holds enough diesel for an 800 mile range.

Thanks Larry!!!Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-37273394541970922862008-10-29T22:00:00.000-07:002009-03-16T14:31:52.932-07:00Do Jeans Make the Woman?<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiefkS_TXsRX66nPi6iu0U0NSSdmILYKd-9tOXnKyPx1z8RZ5hnIPjKRX89THFfKMGMrEv3yUgKsQi3dSDIu-UdoFOLUAgcOOwz3qLCrBf2pn2Mbzdlal7fErDt2Li8OoMEReREeoTsQ50/s320/CIMG3346.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262734523287240754" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2TOdRwZrPZyAoEhw0GwKnWnvKvl8Anfi9gvzDi6NWjQpx4o9Vlg_efZBHnW9rvX5nseavodC0jVr1hZ2m7SpQm0oIRG6_VGdA-sQZuUw6IOWkMASNow-xT97dp5Z-gt2bOqAffrV5IVY/s320/CIMG3336.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262734516838968418" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8zUnpwy6lBVvZb0yeArvN_QVqGnXzSxMvcIGh_OXsuLTLpi1to3GHT6yisNX6qktcnJRvd9d52I9K9_pZcaZyS4NbFd2c1FztHWUbNLZj5Dg_XJJFoQ6arJEtUFMIf8odl-onE41t-GQ/s320/CIMG3343.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262734509510949602" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfD5B1C_uXr_3rfWFU7eFJyFs-YBd1tYbYwifQcAz-mpbuAm8dFR2HQXfHk_YbWJqcJjSn8JIdkT0ZMFe31JCSwebdZC_egSfffp3iQ34iot2nkVWh1m57Y5RsYRDphUKMIJIAHH8RI2w/s320/CIMG3331.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262734506678286162" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwWuThz48lDMtcZf9-twN4Oc8waQJZtIcX16f7ldRek7FkWO9EOqDE0EIO-D5KPxQD4KmEXbXLSrvrJUa_Da7Fe-VFc7bburydwXqKxl9I3Vp_kQ772PyyvG6Sr8n86ExkS__BY4R0aHk/s320/CIMG3334.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262734501126915602" />
Do jeans make a difference??
I decided for the tour that I wanted to wear jeans...something I never really wear. I went through my old jeans and found they just weren't right for a rock and roll tour of this caliber. I decided to go to Lucky Brand and a few of the places that Ashley shops and I found two things...jeans are pricey and even though they are still denim, they have really changed.
I found the Lucky "Lola's" and they were great. I can wear them long with boots, or roll them up and wear heels. I then went to Macy's and found a brand called NYDJ which means..."Not Your Daughter's Jeans".
I found my usual size and the sales girl came by and informed me that I should go down a size. I thought, how nice of her to notice that I had lost weight. I tried them on and wow the smaller size fit! I was so excited I decided to go down another size...same thing... it fit which meant I was in a single digit size! I was doing so well, I decided to go even smaller and see if I could get the next smaller size on my body. I managed, comfortably I might add, to get into a 6! LOL I stopped at the 6 because I used to be a 6 and I like that number. That actually would be my prefect size in the real world. I may not be smaller, but I am wearing a size 6 jean!! HOLLA!!!
I bought two more pairs to make sure that the pair I was wearing wasn't mis-marked, by some deranged seamstress in a jean factory.
Anyway tonight for the big show I pulled out my size 6 jeans in black...I walked around in the dinner area and said to hello to EVERYONE, I felt good, could it be because I knew I was wearing a size 6!? I felt like I had a great secret that I wanted to share with everyone, but I kept my mouth shut.
On my way out of the venue I stopped by the Gibson bus, and I saw the adorable Hubert Sumlin and got my picture taken with him and BB King's guitar...it was a good night!

I went back to the bus to get ready for the all night drive, and as I took off my jeans I saw two large adhesive labels stuck to my thighs. I don't know how in the world I missed these large stickers when I put on the jeans.

One said: NYDJ recommends washing this jean before wearing with soap and water to remove any possible excess dye. I didn't see any dye, so I was good to go. Anyway I wanted to wear a brand new pair of jeans, not a pre-washed pair.

The other label attached to my skin said: NYDJ cannot be held responsible for any positive consequence that may arise due to your fabulous appearance when wearing NYDJ.
You can thank me later.
So, I'm here in the bus, on our way to Denver, wondering if my good time had anything to do with my NYDJ's or was it just me! Haylie and I quickly got ourselves together to explore this cute area. We found so many wonderful shops including fabulous clothes for Peach's 1st birthday. Raimy found some of his favorites things in the leather store that included three pairs of Ugg's.
Funny thing, on the way back to the bus we found a coffee shop in a bank. I found humor in this combination. I wonder if the coffee shop makes all their deposits at the connected bank?
I'll write more later if anything exciting happens to me tonight...like that is going to happen! LOL
If I don't get back to the computer tonight, just know we are leaving Omaha tonight and heading for Denver. I have never been to Kentucky, but it looks like so many cities I have seen along the way of my journey. They do have alot of interesting art around the town, and I do enjoy seeing that.
We arrived here yesterday and went straight to the venue. I didn't go to the show last night, I hate to say it but it was too cold for me. I am rarely cold, in fact I have the AC on in my room right now and it's 34' outside. Anyway after the show we got to the hotel and apparently whoever booked my room put me into a bridal suite. Nice! LOL I wonder where my husband is?? Anyway I walked into the entry way and past the kitchen of my huge suite. I just started to laugh when I saw the bathtub within a few feet of the king size bed. In fact the bed is so close to the tub that when I turned on the jacuzzi tub last night, the jets were so strong that water flew all the way over to the bed...which wasn't a far distance. There is a regular bathroom and shower, but the tub is a bit out of place in the bedroom/ living room suite.
The kids have friends here that pastor a church and are also parents of twins. Their boys are 18 months and just adorable. They planned to spent the day together running around and finding a pumpkin patch. I was invited, but I decided I needed a rest. We leave tonight and I think our driver said we have a 12 hour drive to Omaha...I could be wrong on that, but I am staying put for the day. I am relaxing and I think I'll go out and find food somewhere. I 'm going to watch The Young and the Restless from my king sized bed, rest and take another bedside bath before we pull out at 11PM.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-13955441908756006532008-10-26T19:21:00.000-07:002009-01-01T10:58:13.898-08:00Chicago one of my favorite cities!<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijamLO7EN8bbYmewJxjMkv-VNjUf1OG3sah4mkgyY1BI06Yd1hUs5MkT_ai0iF36V94A2lBBzevTDI5NBZih7gqiuyoZQuJ9qCfxg1uq1OGhi6c2jXOUJNnKKN0zs14IMQzy1-5DAdBqw/s320/CIMG3155.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261901885726825234" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu_3x5XwZpWgXHjqoptoBq6KRl_qT2oLnYaaFWqxYzVHVPEKEYJ36veQynGf-Qrz4skkQvMXgDyYdgg1XQrSKtF8ldrbwwAHcRZnBUjrInJ3rtAuCRJPBYYi4PXiF8z6oZDzpfm1EsWEg/s320/CIMG3064.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261662453497920706" />

Christmas time already!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRS3qe7mZIY40WOXYKmfA9urDY0oEa7fWPQHkzJDJQByhQGXX3D3v1EiPJopGZiYBqiZ00djnOgvev0lBwGijamy5NSAWI9xdWN6bGLIXJ_t0NLm6ZNrkU1M3p8NL-E-4s2lcaQ0ayYic/s320/CIMG3151.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261662447641596482" />
Haylie and the mighty Dragon

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4WNSGyIFBKh6IgWM77KHXIuyRaJLIgZp4iTJe5n8ZQHX4RCYHptq65LVEosyoyWZfHpk96TOnr5PmYTU9w2eaLT0kN4kzL0anPVJFff_N2DB6dmGCugj1h0edx1SNJK3xXuJimWaY-Fk/s320/CIMG3057.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261662436336987010" />
The Ladies of Macy's past

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0zI-tThxh73KjyTtim79C36nKlkdkzvCVncaCp5Euo9s2my5atDjeS3hqSWIHl02sfpSBjN6RyRNAAlFvEKuZGeMW8NzhJzWhwCbLYgIC4GIn8s9C7gZxSk8IViQUK_UeqxLkv_MzL8Y/s320/CIMG3072.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261662424192554946" />
Check out my new teeth

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBmdg_nFApaOtsn7sjYCuXeUnEvIFPktqjoXiK-nzWB9CIvukkkz61uBIj0h6LRMO_ummvsu7xUyNfxhxbLKjJ3uP9OMwsO4iDAsXALTdtzvvwymzpE9kqdIjX2CnZIU9Ms-McyirhDyk/s320/CIMG3078.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261662411179621970" />
Look at our new stockings!

Good Morning Chicago!! The bus parked right on State St. next to the venue, this morning. We got ready as fast as we could so we wouldn't waste a moment exploring some of the wonderful places that I love here in Chicago. The last time I was here was during 9-11-2001, and I had no idea when Ash and I would be able to get back home.
Haylie and I bundled the babies from the frigid cold and headed up State St. We stopped at the 9 floor Macy's and stayed until it closed tonight! We were only able to see a few floors because of the enormous size of this store. Macy's isn't the Macy's we have at home, it's the Macy's talked about in movies and how stores used to be.
The entire Christmas floor was ready and the babies took the whole thing in, as best they could at their ages. It was GORGEOUS and hearing Bing Crosby's White Christmas certainly had me feeling like Santa was about to come flying down the chimney.
Haylie bought stocking and stocking holders and Christmas clothes for the beans. The store just wasn't open long enough!
The show is going on right now and Jon is playing more songs tonight than usual. I listened to part of the show, but I got cold and decided to walk the block and a half back to the bus and work on my blog.
I loved being in Michigan, but I was so sorry it was so short and I missed seeing two of my dearest friends, Kathy and Kim. Please forgive me for not being able to reach you while I was there.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-50078729490613752572008-10-25T12:40:00.000-07:002008-12-29T11:01:06.036-08:00Michigan our beautiful homeland!Michigan Our Beautiful Homeland!

We Made It To The Famous Franklin Cidar Mill Two Blocks From Our Old House
<img style="cursor:pointer; It's funny to see the array of hotels we end up having along the road. The hotel was gorgeous and the manager told me I was in the largest room in the hotel...the Presidential Suite. I figured that must be a mistake, but at my age I have decided if a gift is offered I'm all over it. I got to the 10th floor and saw the double doors of my suite. When I opened the door to the forty plus foot living room and 10' conference table I was wishing Leilani, Karen, Tammy and Thom were here and we would be having a huge investor meeting.

When Haylie came in we decided to rent a car and head to Bloomfield Hills. That turned into quite an ordeal when the nearest SUV was at the Detroit Airport, which was some distance away. She took a taxi and securing the car took over an hour.
Once the car seats were loaded we headed for The cider mill in Franklin. How wonderful to share Haylie's childhood favorite with her babies. We bought the fresh cider and the most amazing donuts in the world. I took pictures of the babies first bites. It's funny because of all the fancy donuts I have had in my life nothing holds up to the the fabulous little donuts in the Village of Franklin.
We drove around the corner from the the cider mill to the place where the children grew up. It made Haylie decide that she wanted to have a home in Franklin again, not all the time but for a vacation home.

We then drove to my brother and sister-in-laws house for dinner. If was so much fun and brought back so many wonderful memories of our days on MI.

Now I am waiting in the hotel for Sue and David Smith to arrive for Toledo. They have been my friends for many years and I can't wait to see them again! They will be going to the concert tonight, but I will probably sit this one out. I am also waiting for Scotty Weller and I have no idea where he is today. Scotty call me if you read this! Let Jimi Take Over.
By NATE CHINEN
The Experience Hendrix Tour, which rolled into the Hammerstein
Ballroom on Tuesday, borrows its name from the Jimi Hendrix
Experience, and from that band's epochal first album, "Are You
Experienced."

It also shares a name with Experience Hendrix, the company that
manages the legendary guitarist's estate, run by some members of the
Hendrix family (but as copious legal records will show, not all of
them).

What's in a name? The tour, which features the surviving members of
the Jimi Hendrix Experience along with a battery of impressive stand-
ins on guitar, lives up to its billing in terms of song choice,
style and execution. But as a command and a promise, "Experience
Hendrix" can't help falling short, if only because of the Post Options Labels for this post:
e.g. scooters, vacation, fall Show all Hide all
All Labels: Epcot/ Wildlife Kingdom
Reader Comments
Allow
Don't allow, show existing
Don't allow, hide existing
Post date and time

Shortcuts: press Ctrl with: B = Bold, I = Italic, P = Publish, D = Draft more
Uploading Video Cancel
You can continue to edit your post during upload, but can't close this window or publish until it's finished. There are more truthful, less sexy
imperatives for what this package ultimately entails: venerate,
validate and commemorate, for starters.

That's not to say there was a shortage of thrills on Tuesday night,
especially for the guitar nerds in the house. During the first half
Eric Johnson confirmed his reputation for technical wizardry on back-
to-back versions of "Bold as Love" and "Are You Experienced,"
precisely etching some phrases and artfully smearing others. In a
rewarding contrast, he also teamed up with the Memphis blues
guitarist Eric Gales for "May This Be Love," a dreamlike ballad
based on a melodic drone.

Mr. Gales opened the show with "Purple Haze" and "Foxy Lady," two
classics just similar enough to warrant separation from each other.
But he did them justice, reworking the melodies to suit his deep and
roomy voice. The predatory tempo of "Foxy Lady" worked well for him,
and he indulged in some Hendrixesque tricks: swiping an arm along
the neck of his guitar, soloing with the instrument balanced behind
his head.

Billy Cox, who played bass with the second iteration of the Jimi
Hendrix Experience, joined Mr. Gales and later intermittently
returned. As for Mitch Mitchell, the influential original drummer
with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, he drifted on and off the stage,
but in a secondary capacity, as an accent or accessory. The
principal drummer for most of the show was Chris Layton, a
resourceful and indefatigable presence.

Among the evening's more faithful evocations were a subdued "Little
Wing," featuring David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos, and a
sprawling "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)," featuring the raucous
blues guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Even better along these lines,
though, was Jonny Lang, working in tandem with Aerosmith's Brad
Whitford on a powerhouse version of "Fire." Though hardly the most
dazzling guitarist on the bill, Mr. Lang was among the better
singers, and he threw himself headlong into the songs: he got
equally strong results out of "Spanish Castle Magic" and "The Wind
Cries Mary."

Still, it was a pair of elder bluesmen who brought the show to its
logical conclusion. Hubert Sumlin, an acknowledged influence on
Hendrix, infused "Killing Floor" with spindly commentary, working
with and against the groove. And Buddy Guy, in a track suit and a
fedora, set out to mop the floor with everyone who had preceded him.
There was not a speck of deference in his playing: not on his own
slow-drag tune, "Out in the Woods," and not even on "Red House," a
blues song written by Hendrix. But his defiant charisma felt true to
the spirit of the moment, and so did his scary authority. His was
the kind of experience that counts.

Experience Hendrix continues at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia on
Thursday, and at the Fox Theater in Detroit on Saturday;
experiencehendrixtour.com.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-47038512317423997642008-10-23T08:58:00.000-07:002008-12-29T11:16:40.827-08:00NYC Tammy and Ang Here We Come!NYC Tammy And Ang Here We Come!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjerE7Lie2DtahMOQtWC_RhkjYbhqIyGBKb3v0ZKlcTR1zmbU_Nu41LZyhvXIuHdt5HvV6LQ3dGQ9E0mzOcuP4QCG09ig5uS9ENLdROYakwCmoFbOtgCTnTsZ5Xh4SAb07C7ka1YSM5fJk/s320/ny+john+lennon.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260471754515515122" />
John Lennon's apartment courtyard

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJUI-9zBKmp1_p2XDWezNv2UzOVXeU0Ngph-d8s3dWsnxAJzgp8EWQaA99SfEXOEzp7oXsdI2mU-EFAKVVBhbe2wmEw4pVhIgFjUIl1DN0EoJxwpfzgfITRmZMOUZtyieMU2JenHJto_w/s320/ny+ang+bday+7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260471750892629298" />

We Stopped For Dinner Next To The Venue

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpr9gz_jZBkFvdgbPB2dUEo6nZz4CHf_pnpeGaBMCqTvSIcfkIJaj4q5ICvdjGKGnGqEDq-JfclIwqzN9SMNZMZyR0Gh3bzLz6OyaM9umEhf6xrYnzv5haDSN2N_hQiJ9b1t3zWvq3AE0/s320/oct+21+ang+bd1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260471747636763938" />
Getting Ready For The Show And We Are So Early!!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilGeevaa4EoAxxdEm4vXS5kJlpbGZ1H-7BUowKtM1GoGAG2nNmRoT67fMXdQgXWSyC3q2KCCbo_5179QlXQePUJi35As1HZD_I6nuHBTlNyy32SuvGqM9Vpsp0zPreLGL8X5WbC5Yqp8c/s320/oct+21+ang+bd3+and+ang+and.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260471740588550226" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS2tK09kGZR9pPzc3Y5jlMQ2Ol5geZbKbLimAd6vRwsbacE-4B-wL32s-Hz3oha5ylljU0zu8-VJpGY6sJsIAAaezAmCe7BPWt9XtI3_b8KEERAIaqd92wtjbn00tdYACYm_pIxRzMkeg/s320/oct+21+ang+bd2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260471731404675106" />

I was so excited to get to New York City to see Tammy and Angela ...two of my close friends from Ca. They were in NY for Ang's birthday and we were going to the show together.
We left CT around 11 and headed for NY. the mileage isn't that far, but maneuvering a tour bus through NY in another story! It took forever! We finally got to our hotel and were met at the bus door by Bobby...our personal quality control manager. When you are tired and in a hurry all you want is to get to the room and not hear the whole story about what a wonderful choice you have made. Bobby takes us up and we find we all have separate apartments and they are really cute. He then wants to have us to look at each bathroom that he has personally and proudly inspected for our convince. He tells us about all the best grocery shopping and as soon as we have the babies settled Haylie is off to the market. While she is away I start checking the immaculate kitchen to see what we have in terms of pans and silverware and I find the cleanest neatest drawers I have ever opened. I decided Bobby really loved his job and maybe I had been a bit too hard on him and his zealous attitude in the beginning. I decided Bobby was definitely an eagle.

The girls arrived with two Friends who had also flown to NY to share in the birthday celebration. I had never met them, but a friend of the girls is also a friend of mine. I met Mia and Nikki and they came in to see the babies before leaving.
Great surprise the girls have a driver and an SUV. WHAT A LUXURY!!!
We get to the crowded venue and pull out the golden ticket and we are in!

We all have the next day off, so we decide to take a subway AND a walk through Central Park to the girls GORGEOUS apartment. It was a wonderful day!!Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-71035937732294147642008-10-21T10:44:00.000-07:002008-10-21T10:46:54.579-07:00another review
Posted by: "Ms. Andrea" andreajanelle@hotmail.com jlangrox
Date: Tue Oct 21, 2008 5:47 am ((PDT))

Here's another review from the Hendrix tour... notice anything wrong
with the article?

At Palace In Waterbury, The Night Was Jimi's
By JACK CORAGGIO | Special to The Courant
October 21, 2008
If Jimi Hendrix looked down at the Palace Theater in Waterbury on
Sunday night and saw the spectacular "Experience Hendrix" tribute
concert being held in his honor it's almost certain he would have
thought the entire show fantastically surreal.

And he'd have been right.

It was one of those shows that makes the younger generations of
Hendrix fans rue the post-Jimi decade in which they were born, be it
the 1970s, '80s or even '90s. Because if the three-hour, 23-song set,
performed by a battalion of some of the greatest rock and blues
artists alive today, is any indicator of what it was like to see the
man perform, then all the stories that came back from Woodstock and
the Isle of Wight are true: Jimi Hendrix was a musical demigod.

But the weight of his own id-shattering music probably isn't what
would've blown Hendrix's mind so much as seeing two of his biggest
influences, blues legends Hubert Sumlin and Buddy Guy, stand side by
side as they pulled the exaggerated sounds of Hendrix's
lingering "Red House" out of their respective guitars.

Then Hendrix likely would have, um, experienced a certain tinge of
nostalgia, seeing two of his former band mates, drummer Mitch
Mitchell and latter-era bassist Billy Cox, once again hold rhythm on
some of their biggest hits, such as openers "Purple Haze," "Stone
Free" and "Angel."

And he probably would've welled up with pride upon seeing the
considerable impact his music has had on the landscape of
contemporary blues-rock artists. Like when former guitar prodigy
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, only 27, brought the crowd to its feet with his
take on the guitar solo vehicle "Voodoo Chile."

Or when the evening was wrapping up, and Guy (who was having the time
of his life on stage) and 31-year-old guitarist Jonny Lang faced off
in a friendly call-and-respond, old vs. new duel on closer "Hey Joe."

In total, almost 20 musicians put on their best Hendrix imitations.
This cast also included Brad Whitford of Aerosmith and guitar giants
Eric Johnson and Eric Gales. Guy had the license to play some of his
own material, such as "Skin Deep," an Aaron Neville-style blues
ballad preaching racial harmony. Other than that, the night belonged
to Jimi.

What an experience.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-19978008283265918682008-10-20T19:32:00.000-07:002008-12-29T11:10:22.701-08:00Read the Signs!READ THE SIGN'S!

Brad Whitford (Aerosmith)
Hubert Sumlin (He was Jimi Hendrix's early influence)
and Jonny at the Providence, RI Show

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYog-IgnH9ieQLPo5sJ-aIsV9_X2B-rDALOGY1DIAj33ZKhk6ng0ZGWPzVC37hHlP2ZDEEfuW9W6Lfyv5zB7g4JUc_PDfjaOqHVY4m5CZhcjgrRUdfLK4e71RIn0GQ9knIKZjuOZOes4/s320/CIMG2852.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259442358561299682" />

From the side stage at Providence, RI
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM0CsfdSzvQw6hWe7hG07oBFMnY6rwAWR9UCpz52-geXGn1Xj0bcjNB82AMTN-pPbe7bYFg23a8GfXEyR1Rv59B5j5OfSIM0ogCfLIOnrmmyX-EKrYIaK9fx0cvXhtJq6ChGEUrabe8w8/s320/CIMG2849.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259442364760930386" />

I love this old window
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdK-zs2p4V6OIHGEAeGdPYZTZhAA-SxYj5VvR_N1i1cvHKn7ihNTklxobsYmLgCdlCowcUaKxc2eBmG8UCwEAJh7okmnaSrEjKgzHxR3vgkZcPku7KIRdTdn-LVWD0hDs4iPKr1_27L8Y/s320/CIMG2833.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259442371698438706" />

Local building
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEK8VrvpRM01ngaNa3mNF7ahaDQ_ROFcSvxXcXzprx3UhmgqkkRphNcFIB13aDYww42K2vSXe76WQMK8GIARsLfhRMU7c9xZGra1aWAqnxgaREXJrsmVJCEkvJwqYf2LB52uwtVYrCwvA/s320/CIMG2827.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259442377174643154" />

From the bus
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCzdONL6-0DHR-8G72ezI-Q-uyykNpfXBDH6vfLfj39NzOIH2HVeiUkLWykg1ZuuMe0wVEPzn3tIjsrp_1LfiSH0vmkM6mN6U4vJCwnN2FXEpr0AUUjkqWW02A27F3Y9Sc4YU3T_9QcoI/s320/CIMG2774.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259442382655899746" />

I just realised it's very important to read the little notes that hotels seem to clutter around the room. They bother me because I hate messes and I usually gather them up, and put them away when I am setting up my room.
My point here is that Haylie came in my room and saw my used towels on the floor, under the vanity area. She asked if I had read my note regarding towels? Of course I hadn't read the note, and I was shocked to find out what the note said:
If you want clean towels replaced, make sure all you dirty towels are placed in the BATHTUB.
All others will be folded and put back on the racks.
*Trust me I will always read the signs before I put them away!

Other than the towel adventure, I am wonderful and having a great time, yet I am homesick. I miss Ashley and Otis and Home. I miss my dear friends, I miss church I miss The Stand on Monday nights and I miss my DVR. I miss many things, so that is just a small list.
I am in Waterbury, CT tonight and leaving tomorrow morning for NY. As you might have guessed Buses are not welcome anywhere in NYC, nor at the hotel. The plan is that we have to have everything ready to go out the door the minute the bus pulls in front of the hotel. It's like a fire drill, Jon jumps out and opens the bay under the bus and pulls out the stroller. We load the stroller, pass down the babies, grab our own stuff and the bus pulls out. That may not sound like much work, but trust me it is!!

I did laundry yesterday here at the hotel. I have never done laundry at a hotel and I don't think it ever crossed my mind that hotels had laundry facilities. I met Hector, a pastry chef from West Texas, in the laundry mat...we plan to share recipes.

Today there was no show, so we decided to go to the mall. It's funny that most malls look the same, so it kind of makes you feel like you are home when you step into one. Today I walked in the Brass Creek Mall and it looked just like Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks with the stores rearranged, and a lower floor, which we don't have at our mall.
I am so excited because we are going to be seeing some very dear friends in NY. tomorrow night at the show. Tammy and Angela are in NY for Ang's birthday. Also Haylie's best friend from elementary school, Jennifer. It will be so wonderful to see everyone!Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-33324867631515711052008-10-18T23:00:00.000-07:002008-10-19T08:02:13.506-07:00The Golden Ticket<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyxLoB08eG65CSTIlnE9qTpn1-fkZgZKmemuaIhGkll0xLSvJgsOPOInk7cchCNUUn3MBzZIIerbPN7L_qMCGMJF7qI2XxEEuNCw5IchETomgSWtlDUbRUFgHhF719TqXzLdIbgs25ZsM/s320/CIMG2565.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5258712665980569154" />

THE GOLDEN TICKET

All Access Laminates are the golden ticket into a show, without one you can go nowhere. With one of these little pieces of plastic, you all of a sudden have power to get past any of the scary security guards. Oh my gosh it was WONDERFUL!!!!
I will so blessed to have such wonderful friends who come out to see us while we are traveling...Thanks Sam!!!!Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-51995904046841646202008-10-18T12:45:00.000-07:002008-10-18T12:50:10.363-07:00First Reviews Are Out!!
Blazing guitars give fans the Hendrix experience at the Palace

By MICHAEL HUBER, Staff writer
First published in print: Saturday, October 18, 2008

ALBANY — Jimi Hendrix played to a nearly packed house at the Palace
Theatre in Albany Thursday night.

OK. I know Hendrix has been dead for 38 years, and while he wasn't at
the Palace, his music and his legacy were in full force. "Experience
Hendrix" brought an ever-changing roster of musicians to perform his
iconic music, in all its sonic magic and distortion.

Eric Gales, who played straight-up renditions of "Purple Haze"
and "Foxey Lady," and Eric Johnson, who captured the virtuosity
of "Axis: Bold as Love" and "Are You Experienced," and the other
guitarists had to find a comfort zone in playing their signature
styles while also paying homage to Hendrix.

The most exciting performances came from Jonny Lang, 27, who blazed
through "Fire," with Aerosmith's Brad Whitford, and Kenny Wayne
Shepherd, 31, who brought the crowd to its feet with his extended
solo on "Voodoo Child."

The most nostalgic moment wasn't when 77-year-old Hubert Sumlin, an
early influence on Hendrix, traded solos with Buddy Guy; it was when
Hendrix bandmates — drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox —
joined Guy for "Red House" and "Hey Joe."

It's impossible to consider rock music without the considerable
influence of Hendrix. You hope the young guns backstage were
listening and learning, and ready to carry on Jimi's legacy.

The Times Union covered the concert with a Twitter feed, short items
sent to the Web immediately from the hall. Excerpts from
http://twitter.com/albanytuarts follow:

Show starts with the tick-tock of signature riff of "Purple Haze"
played on Gales's Gibson Les Paul, strung upside down like Hendrix.

"Foxy Lady" with the first behind the back guitar solo.

They give Johnson both "Axis: bold as love" and "are you experienced"
makes sense he plays these more technically challenging songs.

Johnny Lang and Aerosmith's Brad Whitford rip through "Fire." My
cover band played that song at every one of our gigs. All 5 of them!

Concert factoid: trucker cap-wearing Brad Whitford is really really
short!

Buddy Guy, in a blue track suit topped with a fedora, joined by
Hubert Sumlin, in a comfy gray suit and matching fedora.

"Red House" with Whitford and Guy on guitars, Cox on bass and vocals
and Mitchell. Close as I'll ever be to a Hendrix concert.

Music review

"EXPERIENCE HENDRIX"

When: 7 p.m. Thursday

Where: Palace Theatre, 19 Clinton Ave., Albany

Crowd: Sold out and hollering for moreNancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-77265813518699344922008-10-17T06:55:00.000-07:002009-01-29T15:06:12.979-08:00Albany, NY : Old friends and fabulous weatherAlbany, NY
Me with Kendra

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNaygTYfevOD_78F-_P97W3Czal5PRK_1Z0kDl9sDgEDMmh9LRX92v3Z-deio1NoQ5PdDCQhZZgCGQXUBmnwH4Qi-6X5Vo9HyyDwyfiPIMZAxniFC-XMc6iGqj1ajQvvV_R1B6wB7wB6U/s320/CIMG2766.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5258176462818354562" />

Jim and Kendra
Albany, NY

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQQi7n_Um5MfToVFkJ8hQtipCVDwkJ3GbXrHKEVfBLeKxbP2SeorS3ysz6LCtzHiKpM1ygZ3yjQYruitinDxpz6Jc1XVRWtD7YegELC1gvuaYjmlfv-MSBG4Yd63qs9IG46E0mx4eo_CY/s320/CIMG2763.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5258176466547828034" />

The lovely dining room

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicv5JTN5dQi6kFmDiBTy6kR0I8Dn6uw1_cZvCom4aEUCkXi4g2xodWwHJrdgNqswB5Cf3SeRZpc_foW67MGRPw2yAGeTEdyLwDT91LiDcH7DXhgzu4ne4bb2JJSXXPqfnSjOYcBj47T0o/s320/CIMG2762.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5258176472385246306" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWaiQOiml37wjXoCWsFVTX1wAiYJhyphenhyphenXE48ajIx7i_AkZkZBW3Ai37LNPOH4xGkUd0EHQeBSidYzryZLZ7PeGtbZOd9GXGUK46NGQtZyeK1YBaAYqCWcjSPlZPWMHcqg2T62FSKn2t6Aqw/s320/CIMG2765.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5258176482843040162" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGBjC4usKnWH9Otey-NOgbZ2vLajHFv-tDfIO9zK5tX0OTDbi5tHTbcF058fCdMtZsiXu8BAPWFe29NuTMl-jjE_hDYlObFapSl9rh-XdaC_hixWSh3F9EIm-3tc3Xa9OMZsctc-He9jo/s320/CIMG2697.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5258175711160379874" />

We got into Albany and parked for the night. What a gorgeous place to wake up too!!
One of my dearest friends, Kendra Dew, (http://kendradew.com/main.html)originally from Michigan, was driving there to meet us. She actually got married two years ago and had moved to Vermont, so we haven't seen each other in almost three years. Also, we had not had the pleasure of meeting her new husband.
They arrived about 2PM and it was wonderful!! We talked, laughed, ate, had a photo shoot with Haylie and the babies... I forgot to mention that Kendra is an unbelievable photographer, who was instrumental in Haylie and Ashley's early days of acting and modeling. Her new husband Jim is also a very talented photographer, I will try and find his website to add later.
The old theater in Albany was just beautiful and restored to perfection. Again the place was sold out and there was so much excitement from the waiting crowds of fans.
We had dinner in the basement of the old theater, and it was there that certainly couldn't hid the many years that it had been standing. It seems funny to me that that millions of dollars are spent on restoration of places like this, yet the entire artist area is old, with frayed wires taped in all directions and just a mess. Still it was so exciting to be there.
I took Kendra and Jim to the side of the stage to watch the opening of the show. Eric Gales opened with Purple Haze and the crowd went wild. As fun as it was to watch within 20' of the performers from the sidelines, I think you lose so much of the sound and not being part of the synergy when sitting in the audience.
Later we returned to see Jonny, but this time we watched from the balcony. We had no seats, but again in this venue they allowed us to stand about anywhere we desired.

The day and evening were so wonderful, but the goodbyes were so hard!!!
Bye Kendra and Jim and thanks so much for driving such a distance to see us!!
Back on the road heading for Providence, RI.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-7224596134818296722008-10-15T17:16:00.000-07:002008-10-15T19:39:23.050-07:00The Town's shut down, but there will be music!The Town's Shut Down, But There Will Be Music!

The Official Jimi Hendrix/ Gibson Guitar
Bus
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaQgdrYKr4kdG4UELtUxyD5B6vKeDNiTRbQqEeyKUCePpLzVl1fQ-HKDXlgJHEnVGTuf-5dkkMln7EYOAEhJ_RY4tZrOH3pIzRBUOTOfH8ZywlObXvr2vo0hWmFLiOXQhCs6AHbyVHU6A/s320/CIMG2624.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257570127903934082" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6Sb00C7L7TI4qFbADWFkjVGVjj5n0tir9ZClJfaNPHj1Dhx9rxUJIL2W2aCjkQkqHy7RQAYc8F9uYK4vhm9hbOQRD9CfbR4MMO4WtD0MfC2dvaO5fH_wmaWajZu64vkXh1JY2kaZdqJg/s320/CIMG2621.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257570144633094834" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk3l0WP-2ZZ3dbTxOc0WP9Larf9CR4tj7AfFzmdjXkbVwn_mD9nmLfwaiWIgJp6teHSv2Pa7LCbN7loy9CuGtDsOPIaw0k8CFFq8cUcKXUPaE_6VApPLXiyEbLI2kJdCaLdDjSIphxE0M/s320/CIMG2629.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257570150332695922" />

A water slide in the parking lot!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoC2oHvoZt_yy40j7RhLBlWj8V04Uwvs_t87Z0uFlpX2XJiLxdw7oVZtnu8CW5FAj0AlWvPqbrKqx6ltFU95Laf4bJu5QZoacH0fgqKtdB_4uad9VQCUgVptO8QcDo21MR6SzK85_xYvE/s320/CIMG2635.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257570188193667634" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT60fhwC5hJpWgFp9CNIbnnNQeORgtiqpe4JJlISvNz1K9BciJmLlJUABNgglugBPMmhTGWiL1O6_dN8-hu7wvTWkuzKe2kPoqoy9Lduw3PPbFRXn41a5OmK_wilm5BgOBEml5sZPYYXs/s320/CIMG2653.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257570200296381970" />
The first show is nearing the end, to a sold-out crowd. The venue is amazing and there isn't a bad seat in the place. They have hundreds of assigned seats, but they also let you stand which, I think is a great thing. So many venues are so strict about keeping the walkways clear. If you happen to stop, you'd think you were out on a basketball court and you were receiving a penalty.
This is the first show of the tour and you would be surprised at the small amount of time each musician is given to rehearse. It just shows that these musicians are the :
"real deal", and not like so many performers that are out there today. You have to be good to have less than an hour to rehearse before a show of this caliber!
Eric Johnson played before Jonny and he is a ridiculous guitar player!!
Jonny came out next with: Fire, Wind Cries Mary and Spanish Castle Magic. The crowd was screaming and on their feet for his entrance...he's my favorite as well, in case you don't already know that! LOL
Kenny Wayne Shepard came out after Jonny and he was fabulous.
I had to miss the rest of the show because I wanted to come out to the bus and watch what was left of the debates. I do find it hard to listen to the debates and write this blog, so I guess I should end right now.
We are all so excited because our dear friend Kendra Dew and her husband of two years are driving from Vermont tomorrow to meet us in Albany, NY. We haven't seen her is so many years and we have never met her almost new husband. She is also bringing her camera to do a special photo shot on the babies!!!
Back again tomorrow.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-31079028701158875392008-10-14T12:51:00.000-07:002008-12-29T11:26:32.882-08:00Hampton Beach, NHHampton Beach, NH

It's Beautiful Here!
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaRLppvEW09sYMkIOX-_BO1E_BoOBTQ8o-k3L947c0_8bhGZYYMrxpTiAcZ9hY0dAjF67p1GrBIpRqROgMei2NrPvy0ehDR8VJPVCau47U78qy3_yY6gYA2xUcALCOD99XrQpcxvemmkM/s320/CIMG2532.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257473457937989122" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSR-wi-WopwkVQG42bhQT4Lg_JbAvVcIykwLe8Fnltf032s3yZ1FiU9_GeongJ_3jtoTXVUUe_lt0tHQvgENcmGYUGTaWVGy5seLG4xP1VMrMzO25YBBtpH003TnFrO_oqF4Ld66iwNzs/s320/CIMG2538.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257473461546890050" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAnwwJxE56sMncUawYLzRYzURILMBj9v-ECbpb7B0UAqs3SM8xVvXAs34GzF4pwcK5sK8QPHQ9h5pzoFh8SRgKW23PwlqUDJmy1pInWZzPnCFtVm1xjPw2hOC577YEfLpArxnziLbbX7M/s320/CIMG2541.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257473469961110338" />

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVVXV-3KCwNdgm-vpoyQvN6Ltg_ktS3OYdfhdOHsKoGbsyZtXUhn3ixQ-6_UOwXcWfgUD4VVH-J9sIBHh4qqdvEuuIXBR5xTyfrS2nFK4hygP6O9Bcy0IM6xCZeXEua_t3eiwincbJoIc/s320/CIMG2549.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257473477662064706" />
We got to the hotel in NH this morning and the minute I stepped off the bus I was in heaven!! The brisk wind hit my face and I was so happy to finally be able to wear a coat in the daytime. The ocean was across the street from the hotel and the town looked like like Amity in a scene out of Jaws.
We checked into the hotel and then walked to the venue. All the quaint little store fronts that faced the ocean were either locked or boarded up for the winter. It's funny to think that there are places that actually close up for an entire season. Do they still pay the same amount of rent...I wonder?
We got to the venue and I can't tell you the excitement I felt. The musicians were just starting to rehearse and the sound was amazing! Jonny says this is one of his favorite places to play. I could just feel the history when I walked inside.
I took lots of pictures of the almost deserted venue which will be in full swing tomorrow.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-76420175629902168652008-10-13T20:02:00.000-07:002008-10-13T20:57:44.426-07:00Boston, we will be back!111 Chop House
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOB7cOd8lItuEysoxEJNLZ6UcmCXCxkiZOHeXiq6dIuYZ-cJHmNbc3IFncslmaL9c-nlAgylL0j_jcijpCay2F11fAwivkk9lqpxgM4QecCHvj6F_Jm7gAv3XxRj33pMjaepH8nbiWZEM/s320/027.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256852361545094098" />

Dennis and Peach
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiYEr4ccKggDTKvdM6-_hLBrt5uD-okPJF1oAVXJJ1pYwrct_aNIimqLlBdWT-1ObjGIP8vWKBJqIb4fLIntEnYEcM1UUIiP1MkcVQIUAsRRw_w0BUAyVyFSrG4K7tiH0WnZlWvd-ckkM/s320/024.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256852359808676946" />

Raimy on the bus
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0gwHlOMI2BZS4Bjgb0pn9fI3GKEk1_EZ1v9fO-q6v38ljlRLP8AKgzMMizm-hgymIIkpupOFC3ALxoxuOQ1vlmHlYgzUTGSVeXUVIIkVsqV4Kjh2aAA8hNa0QKp9PjQqoPvsZ-JM1S24/s320/014.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256852362954529490" />

Frank and Peach
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6VnKrg-fieZEnP5vE1LUHkWxanvM_Fwc4oSJiqaRi_y8v3nqD8Sr0eyw-hocgufo2NamnAMy3wVRfP_vE3Wg5AlzkYONu9h1wwm4vKHR4fCMwBdm8_94TYSmScXUbLt9W1Igw-fFkbNc/s320/020.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256852366983681138" />

Peach getting ready for bed
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0M3RMV9AKBOPr1uygEtXXMvZ5cpRmICzm3BxGy2WveFzLlbA-_Y1C18nc1ok657MRkg-_sj6SDe8fVB_UwwN6CLNlwxY5AsMpZgBPadpqQwX06UQAVmr6s6W-ogLxVak8sYbrb68BLvY/s320/034.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256852374146890146" />
Tonight is the eve of the Hendrix tour!! We leave in the morning for Hampton Beach, NH and Jonny will start rehearsing with the band and meeting all the guys on the tour.
Earlier we went to dinner with our dear friend Frank who lives here in Boston. He showed up in his SUV with two brand new car seats for the babies...what a class act!!
He then took us to one of his favorite restaurants called 111 Chop House. It was DELICIOUS!!! It all has to do with the lack of service and rude staff in the hotel, where we are staying tonight. I feel if they can't try to accommodate people staying here, then they shouldn't be in business. Your staff represents your entire company and in my opinion they need to take that responsibility seriously.
I'm just venting here, but I do believe if someone from the corporate office payed a visit to this place, there would be quite a few desk clerks looking for a new job.
No pictures tonight because this has been a very hard day, but I am looking forward to a wonderful day tomorrow!
Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69454401706867296.post-57127015176724229812008-10-11T17:02:00.000-07:002008-10-11T18:47:03.717-07:00We're in BaltimoreGoing out for a walk
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUOet4naqNZQrMlk4HBECUh9uvQuBmxAYdssX-IlrbkCXLBvpmaHeE3F08c6ZrO-KPgtubHLFDk0N5o0aDTr7KuKeLIkL5PhVFwlmiVffJO50j3einFCLkeYYS-D4WEf5odFQa4USdd6Y/s320/CIMG2469.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256065400474649698" />

The Spanx Convention was in town
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdwKMLv35QZb2loHh0TVw4zO3EBqDptub6P9hpI8hah75QkGwKo3G3xyKpcg1mhT7_8pNbT53PWY4pTJsBzkZxzGlQC8YYik9uRWiKoERqspOb5W_MVw-i2AVH29Pe6Xkxvz8Lj7TCiwo/s320/CIMG2487.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256065446435525186" />

Haylie wanted Taco Bell, Dennis wanted KFC
They found them both in one location
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkcDMhVfLd9HLDG8lLT7Ogu_A3aDm5TxC9CC1xjLfuAoWSwtkn2W__EZeOZ3_58C2L_bxNsMjk1R-We5ZfYs5FSeg_XYFE0i1ZCxMLoDJLVWev6d1jimSl4VFUJMSKHP0l-nyNz5ocJc0/s320/CIMG2489.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256065463118116242" />

Oh, A Waffle House
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguHvSkCvAITd9ceiX8Oj1pEIJce-U0l3H_XNRFRy1Ev0-TVGSyEEVByny7Q1yhIwldW-aFM2Hfxj2drAXyHmnGOIQKPz_GiC4yrkqhkIvAvWTrO_CXt9M57VGwFaEZ8AKlarHr37YMwxk/s320/CIMG2485.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256065475199288818" />

Me with Emily and Ted on the Cracker Barrel porch
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9TS0iWoqtDhLUZtwrrU_qNiGQ4t_ZKzk_xRv6S9dJpZxiHS8lVqYrHP9CgNdt0UAAhEWIaWdRpXZ8PLygMENVVkonWbHae8vEEibZ7I7rQsiiRA5hr5BepBKrHpxyRQlMENWVUccIxk8/s320/CIMG2467.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256063080185231938" />

Ted and Emily's front porch
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqAmBfnjuVNjtKaX_24oGwi0apRI2Jg6Y9b5wfUDf9TxMbYoWIbv2SehzmDZWqzdl6gu4_FFCDpsZ99gmcH-WfzV2ypyyWA3uMdBe4kKPobKfSa6pT814bXR_r2KdyaKHc3aP_l1WRh7k/s320/CIMG2476.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256063088695253138" />

We actually got a bit further last night that we thought and ended up in Dunn, North Carolina. Our driver got a room and we spent the night in The Hampton Inn parking lot. I have found that most parking lots look pretty much the same, regardless of the city.
Today we made it to Baltimore and our driver stopped to sleep. We will be here until 1:30AM, and then driving all night. It's so much better for all of to be asleep during the drive and stopped during the day to explore new places.
Right now we are parked next to a Cracker Barrel. I didn't eat there today, because I guess the excitement of the Cracker Barrel has dimmed a bit for me. I did go to the gift shop and I found some wonderful table decorations. They were part of the Halloween collection, but I can use them all year round as much as I entertain when at home.
While sitting on one of the rocking chairs on the porch of the Cracker Barrel, I met a wonderful couple by the name of Ted and Emily. They live nearby and we walked over to their home this evening. Ted is a retired Navy Seal and Emily sells Cookie Lee Jewelry in her spare time. It's funny that you can find friends anywhere, if you just look.Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13567591859015419886noreply@blogger.com0
